Exclusive: Ryan Ross Talks About Leaving Panic! At The Disco

Remix is done and posted. Considering how late I had to restart it, I really really like how it turned out. So now I'm free to go to California to hide every pair of haircutting shears in existence.

I went to my baby cousin's 1st birthday party today, and her three-year-old sister spent the entire time glued to my side, chatting at me like we were old ladies at tea. It was pretty great. Things I learned:

- Some toddlers can actually pronounce my name pretty well!
- Questions toddlers ask include but aren't limited to: "Are you a girl?" "Is [my husband] a girl?" "Are you wearing a dress?" "Did you take a shower?" "Did you know you smell good?" "Do you know I love you?" (Answers: Yes, No, Yes, Yes, Thanks!, I love you too :D)
- Apparently conducting awkward conversation with children is the way to forever cement you in their heart.
- Cupcakes with blue icing will in fact dye your fingers, lips, and tongue blue. Yes, everyone, I blue myself today.
- I can't operate glass jars with spigots. That is, unless you believe I truly meant to spill lemonade all over myself.

- Today is go time for Remix. I had a lot of words for my old one, but because of fandom-shaking events, I had to start over because the plot of the original fic I picked is just not one I can do at the moment. This will all become clear once reveals are done, but I might finish it sometime and then my remix recipient will have two fics from me! She'll definitely get one either way.

- My husband and I went to Bruno last night. I don't know, I liked Borat in parts, but this was just gruesome. I laughed a few times (most genuinely when Bruno and his assistant, both in bondage gear, go barreling through a Fred Phelps "protest" asking if anyone can unlock them) but I spent a lot of time feeling awkward and hating large chunks of humanity.

- Heard the Panic! demo. I'm bringing back the exclamation point since they seem to want to, but I'm still in a shocked place over the breakup and I'll need a lot of listens before I like anything (I only listened twice). I love Pretty. Odd., but I like Fever well enough too and I'm sure I'll like some of what they produce, which is plenty good enough for me. I'm glad Brendon and Spencer are making music. I'm glad Jon and Ryan are making music, too (not quite 455 songs yet!) and I've really liked the pictures they've been posting.

- I've been having stress-related stomach issues, which is a change for me! I usually get stress headaches. I don't really like one more than the other, but at least I'm used to dealing with the head pain and that doesn't typically mess with my sleep. I had a night this week where I essentially took four naps while being an awake zombie in between each, but the sleeping seems to be getting back under control and I've got my fingers crossed for the stomach next. Obvious advice: if you're having a rough week, try to have it in RL or on the internet, not both. :D

- I'm going to start watching Greek. Ash told me there were random nuns in the background once.

- HELLO NEW FRIENDS! If anything, I'm very excited about how my fandom seems suddenly revived and buzzing; I hope it lasts. I'm signed up for popoffacork and I've been eyeing those bandom_hc prompts, too.

- Oh, and absolutely anyone who needs some cheering up should watch this immediately: The Internet takes over West Side Story

I can't wait to tackle Androids and Robots, Futurefic, Genderswap, Dystopias, Pretending to be Married, Road Trip, Hooker AU, Aphrodisiacs, Doppelgangers... okay, fine, I can't wait to write all of them. NOT UNTIL MY REMIX IS DONE, THOUGH. And I think novembersnow would really appreciate my center square. It made me think of her, anyway.

I've just got to say that I've been reading most of the posts related to trigger-wank and I'm really happy that none of the people acting like obtuse idiots have been on my friends list. In fact, at least half of the really awesome commentary has come right from you people.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about and want to, I'll be happy to provide links to where the discussion is happening. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about and don't want to know, please just respect each other. I know sometimes it's hard to do that but don't chalk up simple, polite requests to entitlement; realize that when you resist them, you're the one who's being entitled. And for fuck's sake, don't make it an age argument, because it's not about that and making it about those pesky kids today makes you look stupid, especially when some of the pesky kids in question are your age. I don't care if you're eighteen or eight-hundred.

Okay, I exaggerate. I was feeling better after stealstheashes let me spam her with ugly hats, emilyray agreed I could kidnap her, and I signed up for cliche_bingo, but the Pete and Mikey stuff helps, too.

I got my remix assignment, cupcakes, and Sims 3 today, in that order. I'm a little intimidated but mostly happy with remix. I hope I do okay.

Person who got me for remix, I'm easy and will most likely be thrilled by whatever you choose to do. I just really love seeing fics torn apart and rearranged in a new order and I don't care if you go outside my main fandoms or pick a short fic or a novella or turn a PWP fic into a PG one (or vice-versa). Hell, do a crossover, if that's what you want. Go nuts. :D

Some more bandombigbang recs under the cut, a little more diverse than my last group, though still very Panic-heavy. I'm drowning in fic and it's so awesome.

My favorite fics of the fest so far are the ones by hidingoutside and softlyforgotten, the two lowest-rated ones I've read! I guess I was hungry for actual stories, though I'm also loving all of the romance. What has everyone else liked?

* I cleaned out my walk-in closet today and I had three bags for clothing donation and two bags of stuff to trash completely. Maybe I should do that more often.

* The summer edition of oxoniensis's Porn Battle is on! I told stealstheashes that I was glad she made prompts because I forgot to, until she admitted her obsession with inanimate objects. Oh, Ash. :(

* bandombigbang starts tomorrow. Woooo. I'm really looking forward to this because I have no writer-based nailbiting to do and because I didn't write, I feel better about doing recs as the posting is going on. I don't plan on reading everything, though, just stuff that looks interesting to me and what looks interesting to me varies somewhat day to day. Unless it's Ryan/Spencer. :D

Speaking of putting your own spin on Panic at the Disco, remixredux09 is now open for sign-ups and RPF is allowed for the first time ever, including bandom provided that you've written FOB/MCR/Panic in some combination. That means I have two qualifying major fandoms! \o/

I've said before that Remix is my favorite fic fest because it's just so different from your normal exchange and I'm really happy to get to write for it again this year.
